The regulator
The regulator is effectively the brain that controls the power your alternator puts out. All Balmar alternators use an external regulator to function. The 6 series and some XT models do also have an internal regulator built-in, but this is only really for emergency use or very simple needs.
Balmar offers both smart and single-stage regulators. The MaxCharge ‘smart’ range includes the MC-612, MC-614, MC-618, MC-620, MC-624 and the ARS-5. The BRS-2T is a single-stage, adjustable voltage regulator for use where a smart regulator is overkill and finally, the ERS is a simple, fixed voltage (14.1V) backup regulator for ‘get you home’ situations.
