The Balmar XT-DF series is designed specifically for engines utilizing a 3.15″ (80mm) Dual Foot (Hitachi-style) mount found on many Yanmar, Westerbeke and Perkins engines. This series combines Balmar’s latest innovations in alternator design to deliver industry-leading output in a compact, durable package.

- Exceptional Power in a Compact Frame: The Balmar XT-DF (Dual Foot) Series features a state-of-the-art braided stator wire design. This technology allows the alternator to generate significantly more power in a smaller footprint compared to traditional designs. It is specifically engineered to produce superior charging current at low engine RPMs, making it ideal for cruisers who spend time at anchor or maneuvering at low speeds.
- Engineered for Efficiency and Cool Running: The XT-Series is built to operate 5°C to 10°C cooler than previous high-output models. This thermal efficiency ensures consistent performance even in hot engine rooms and extends the lifespan of the alternator’s internal components, maintaining peak output during long charging cycles.
- SmartReady® Technology: For added peace of mind, the XT-DF comes equipped with Balmar’s SmartReady® internal regulator. This provides a reliable 14.1V backup charging source. While we recommend an external digital regulator for optimal battery charging, such as the MC-618 or MC-624, the internal regulator acts as a crucial “fail-safe”—if your external system ever develops a fault, you can simply switch to the internal regulator to keep your batteries charging.

Note for Installation:
- Due to the high output of these alternators, they should only be used with high-quality serpentine belt conversion kits.
- A Tachometer Signal Stabilizer (Part No. 15-TSS) may be required if your current tachometer is not adjustable.
