The MC-612 Dual Regulator by Balmar was specially created for 12v systems in use on single engine/dual alternator vessels, in which both alternators are used to charge the same bank of batteries.
Incorporating two field output connectors, dual power input connectors and two system: ground connections, two standard wiring looms can be used when connecting the MC-612 to two different alternators.
The MC-612 Dual regulator incorporates user-programmable pre-set programmes for all of the following common marine battery types:
- Standard flooded.
- Deep cycle flooded.
Additionally, Balmar’s MC-612 Dual regulator benefits from a factory pre-set universal program for use with all battery types, and is also pre-programmed for use with lithium ion batteries. The unit can also be configured to work with the new carbon foam battery technology.
The MC-612 Dual is suitable for use on halogen systems, thanks to an additional special programming option, as well as a range of other advanced programming options for different applications.
For smaller engines being used simultaneously for propulsion and charging, the MC-612 Dual regulator has the added feature of a “small engine option,” which allows you to halve the regulator output field to ensure that you retain propulsion when needed.
The MC-612 Dual can be used in conjunction with additional alternator and battery temperature sensors, providing the regulator with the ability to respond intuitively to changing operating temperatures and raise or drop the output voltage adaptively.
Picking the right setting for your specific application means that the end user can monitor sensors at two alternators and one battery bank, or one alternator and two battery banks respectively.
