BBB, and we’re not talking ‘Better Business Bureau’.
Not wishing to be vulgar, but the phrase “Excrementum vincit cerebellum” has never been quite so appropriate. What with the introduction of the interweb, and the ability to research ‘facts’ and discuss things with the genuinely knowledgeable, and the occasional ‘barrack-room lawyer’ type, we’re all in danger of information overload.
Now I’m quite used to reading technical stuff, and then sitting up half the night pondering over what amounts to nothing! Take a step back and look at what you’re fretting over. Have you really any idea of what any of it means anyway?
Companies spend thousands, if not millions on trying to convince us that their latest and greatest is simply the best because [insert marketing and advertising nonsense here].
Let’s use batteries as an example. I’ve just been chatting with a customer who’s replacing his Lifeline batteries, not because they’ve failed, but because after 16 years, he feels he ought to, “just to be on the safe side”. I’m guessing that’s the exception, but that’s the type of ‘technical’ data that you need to be looking at.
It can be fun to research your next multi-thousand pound purchase, but when it comes to something as basic as a battery, you’re talking about a lump of lead and a pint of Acid, I mean, how much time and effort must go into trying to make them sound sexy and better than the rest?
Lead, sourced from the Ballycorus mines, famed for the mystical powers of the cromlechs to imbue power to the ore approaching dilithium levels.
For acid, we use pure Icelandic sulphur and genuine water, sourced from deep within an ancient aquifer; most call it acid, but we know it’s so much more.
All our processes adhere to and meet the most stringent environmental standards, in fact, with our advanced processes, we’re returning less pollutants to the environment than we’re creating.
Yes, but will they last 16 years?
So rather than sitting up all night pondering, take a Z pill and go spend your money on a brand with a solid reputation and no-nonsense attitude to supporting their products and customers.
ZZZZZZZZ…
