Not my customer? sorry, but I’m not able to help.

Not my customer? sorry, but I’m not able to help.

It is with regret, and some sadness, that I must state I will no longer be offering help or support to any person who is not my direct customer. Why? I hear you ask, read on…

On New years eve, despite my better judgement, I interrupted my Christmas holiday and answered the phone. What followed can only be described as obscene. I won’t name names, or indicate where this person came from, but the level of abuse left me shaken. My partner could hear the ranting, and was extremely upset when she heard what had been said, and I have to be honest, it had a major impact on our New Years celebrations and put a complete downer on the holiday. It still rankles today, 8 days on.

So what had I done to deserve such abuse? absolutely nothing. The caller wasn’t even a customer of mine, but because I was a Balmar distributor, he felt justified in taking his frustration out on me.

Although this was not a customer of mine, I went out of my way to help. I found an engineer to help with his installation, and am out of pocket to the tune of nearly £400 after arranging the correct parts to be shipped to him asap. Perhaps I was stupid to help in the first place, but as a yachtsman myself, I know how frustrating problems can sometimes be, and if I can help, I will did. Stupid I know, but there you go, stupid has learnt his lesson.

It makes me sad to think someone could be so unappreciative, aggressive, foul mouthed and threatening, but there you go. As I slide into early retirement, I’ve decided I just don’t need the hassle anymore, and so, with some sadness, I must state that if you didn’t buy something directly from me, DO NOT call or email me with your problems, I’m 100% not interested.

To past and future customers, I’m more than happy to help as always, to others, sorry, but if you have any problems or questions you need to talk to the person you purchased from, alternatively, contact Balmar technical support on +1 360-435-6100.

Sorry it’s come to this, the lesson to learn is ‘be kind to others, but don’t let them take the piss’.

Update – I have received an apology, thank you, it’s appreciated and fully accepted (but seeing as I’d already done the cartoon… )
