CE certification of Balmar products
I’ve been asked a couple of times now if Balmars’ products are CE certified, once being from Greek customs.
The simple answer is that they don’t need to be, and in fact, a lot of products that carry the label probably don’t need to be, or indeed fall into any category that should be. Anyway, we all like a well know logo, it looks good and instils confidence, so why not slap it on your toothpick.
Here’s an excerpt from an email exchange with Balmar which explains why their alternators are exempt –
The Low Voltage Directive regulates electrical and electronic equipment designed for use with a voltage rating of between 50 and 1,000 Volts for alternating current and between 75 and 1,500 Volts for direct current. This does not apply to our alternators as they are designed for use with <75V DC.
The Machinery directive does not apply, as an alternator is not a complete machine, but a part that is included on machines.
In other words, their products conform because they fall outside of the certification requirements. If you need a certificate, or a label to confirm a units status though, please contact us.
