Unfortunately, due to the demands on my time, and following advice from my insurers, I am no longer able or willing to offer technical, installation or fault-finding support.
All to frequently, customers, and other retailers customers, have been contacting me for support. I try to be helpful, but it’s got to the point where enough is enough.
I am not able to diagnose your electrical problems without being there to take my own measurements, and see exactly how things have been wired up or configured. Telling me you have a multimeter, and then asking me how to use it, does not instil confidence, and to be honest, I’ve better things to do with my time on a Sunday afternoon than try and diagnose a problem from afar.
If you don’t know what you’re doing, it’s no good asking me. I am not insured to give advice, and should any damage occur, I am not prepared to give evidence to a court – Magistrates, Crown or Coroners, or an insurance inquiry. If you don’t know what you’re doing, find someone local to you who does.
We have a growing number of engineers and marine electricians listed on our ‘locator‘ page who should be able to help you. They are certified, insured, and competent.
To be perfectly blunt, if you can afford a boat, then you can afford a professional to install and configure your purchase properly and safely. If you don’t know what you’re doing, or opt for the ‘kid down the yard’ to take a look, then expect your boat to be gone soon (as happened to a previous customer, who went for the ‘kid down the yard’ option. His very expensive Najad went up in flames a few weeks before the start of a 3 year circumnavigation)
All the brands we sell come with full ‘technical’ support should it be required. This does not extend to remotely diagnosing your installation problems though.
