The answer depends on the type of alternator you have. If it has an internal regulator, it may need to be reconfigured so that it works with Balmar’s external regulators.

If you have a Yanmar engine from 2013 onwards and the alternator is a Valeo brand, Balmar offers kits so you can do this yourself. You can find details of their kits here. Otherwise, for other brands and types of engines, we suggest consulting an experienced repair shop to get the job done professionally.
